BIODATA OF SHOW LUO

Biography

Born into a musical family of Taiwanese aborigine (Amis) ancestry. He is known by his nickname Xiao Zhu, which means 'Little Pig', and is due to him being fat in his childhood days. Show started playing drums at the age of 3 and performed onstage with his parents as a child. He won silver award at a father-son singing contest when he was 7.[1]
He is fluent in Mandarin, Taiwanese and conversational Japanese. His English is infamously bad and his off-key mis-used English is somewhat of a running joke especially on his 100% Entertainment show.
He is managed by Univerises Entertainment Marketing Limited (天地合娛樂), along with Elva Hsiao, Wong JingLun and Nick (周湯豪). It is a sister company of Mars Entertainment Ltd (天熹娛樂) which manages artists such as Rainie Yang, Stanley Huang, Jolin Tsai, hence sometime they refer to each other as being in the same company.
He co-hosts a daily entertainment news/variety show, 100% Entertainment (娛樂百分百) on GTV with Alien Huang. He is also the creator and designer of street trend fashion brand "STAGE Hyaline of World" (世界透明舞台), abbreviated as S.H.O.W.[2] It has outlets through out Taiwan and in Hong Kong, Singapore, China, USA and Australia.

[edit] Debut (1995-2003)

In December 1995, Show joined «You Are Four Heavenly Kings» imitation competition on China Television. He imitated Aaron Kwok and won 1st place. Then along with 3 other contestants, debut as a quartet boy band 'Four Heavenly Kings' 『四大天王』, releasing 5 albums from 1996 to 1998. Then in 1998 they formally disbanded after 2 members left. In the same year he formed a duo 'Romeo' 『羅密歐』, with Ou Han Sheng (歐漢聲) the other member of Four Heavenly Kings. They released 2 albums and was active till 2000. After the disbandment of Romeo, Show went solo and for the next 3 years concentrated on hosting variety shows, including stints on Japanese Fuji TV[3]

[edit] Avex Taiwan (2003-2007)

In 2003 he was signed by Avex Taiwan and launched his solo career with the release of Show Time. It sold over 80,000 copies leading to a 2nd celebratory version to be published.[4] He has since worked on a variety of genres including hip hop, R&B and has collaborated with Jolin Tsai, Elva Hsiao, Rainie Yang and many other artists.
His follow up album Expert Show (traditional Chinese: 達人Show) was released on 22 October 2004.
On 14 October 2005, Show released his 3rd album Hypnosis Show (traditional Chinese: 催眠Show). He collaborated with Jolin Tsai in the song "真命天子" (pinyin: Zhen Ming Tian Zi) [Destined Guy] and invited good friend Barbie Hsu to star in the MV for "自我催眠" (pinyin: Zi Wo Cui Mian) [Self-Hypnosis], which was composed by Jay Chou.[5]
After 11 years, on 18 November 2005, Show realised his dream of holding his first solo concert. It was held in conjunction with McDonald's World Children's Day, titled «Love's Strength» Charity Concert («愛的力量»慈善演唱會).[6] Coincidently becaming the first artist to perform in a concert at the then newly opened Taipei Arena.[7]
Show released his 4th album SPESHOW on 17 November 2006. The album's title was a play on the words "special" and his name "Show". For the first time, he sang a full English song with Kumi Koda and he also collaborated with the English singer: Simon Webbe. On this album, Show covered a song by Daniel Bedingfield, "James Dean (I Wanna Know)'". Show translated it into Chinese, titled "精舞門" (pinyin: Jing Wu Men) [The Dance Gate]. In this album, he invited Ariel Lin (MV Good Friend) and good friend Kumi Koda (MV Twinkle) to star with him in his music videos. Over 400,000 copies of SPESHOW were sold within a few weeks of its release.[citation needed]

[edit] EMI Music Taiwan (2007-2008)

In June 2007, Show moved from Avex Taiwan to EMI Music Taiwan. It send him to New York to learn and refine his dancing skills with choreographer and creative director Laurie Ann Gibson.[8] In August, Show was selected to be the Mandarin spokesperson for High School Musical 2 by singing the Mandarin version of the themesong '"Bet On It" (traditional Chinese: 必殺技, zh; pinyin: Bi Sha Ji) and it was released on High School Musical 2 Special Edition on 31 August.[9]
He released his 5th album Show Your Dance (traditional Chinese: 舞所不在) on November 16, 2007.
2007 Show Luo «Show On Stage» World Tour Concert: The tour kicked off on June 9, 2007 in Shanghai. The Hong Kong girl group Twins was invited as guests and they sang 'Expert Lover' together with Show.[citation needed] The tour continued on June 30, 2007 in Nanjing, with Jolin Tsai as the guest. The tour travelled to other cities including Beijing, Taipei, Singapore, Jiangsu and Hong Kong in the later part of the year till 2008.[citation needed]
Show released his first concert live DVD 'Show On Cruel Stage' on 11 July 11, 2008 which topped the G-music charts three weeks in a row. One of the most popular parts of the DVD features Show's mother appearing on stage, moving him to tears as he hugged her and sang "幾分" to much support from emotional fans.

[edit] Gold Typhoon (2008-present)

In June 2008 EMI Music Taiwan reformed as Gold Typhoon (Taiwan) (金牌大風) and Show kept his contract with them. Show's 6th album, Trendy Man (traditional Chinese: 潮男正傳) was released on 26 December 2008, the same day as Wang Leehom's album. Controversy erupted when Wang Lee Hom's record company Sony accused Show's record company of buying the charts and inflating sales figures. S.H.E.Fahrenheit's company joined in.[10] The dispute got bigger when prominent artists like Jay Chou, A-Mei, Mayday, Fahrenheit backed LeeHom while several TV hosts like Jacky Wu showed their support for Show Lo. and
Show won the most awards at the first Singapore Entertainment Awards in 2009, despite competition from other mandarin pop stars like JJ Lin and Stefanie Sun. He also performed as the opening act for the 6th Asia Music Festival in Seoul, Korea.
Show recently renewed his contract with Gold Typhoon (Taiwan). Remembering his debut album where no record companies would sign him, Show demonstrated his gratitude towards Gold Typhoon.[citation needed]Rashomon (traditional Chinese: 羅生門) held the number 1 spot on G-music for 10 weeks straight, tying Jolin Tsai's run. Show's latest concert, tickets are sold out less than 2 hours. He also broke a record by holding 3 concerts within 24 hours.[11] His 7th album
